This summer, we will replace the fear of nearly two hundred years of violent control with hope and organized action. Pretty modest, we know.

Our goal: forty-one Freedom Schools will open in the churches, on the back porches, and under the trees of Mississippi.

These schools are geared towards all those native Mississippians, averaging fifteen years of age, but often including small children who had not yet begun school to the elderly who have spent their lives laboring in the fields. Your teachers will be volunteers from SNCC, for the most part still students themselves.
